And [Joakim] Noah said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. OK, so I’m mixing up my bible stories a little. But the Word out of Gatorville after Florida lost 3 out of 4 at the end of February was that the team was bored; that they didn’t have anything to play for. Speculation was that when the “real games” started, they’d flip a switch, the light would come on, and they’d go back to their dominating ways. That sure seemed like the Truth during the SEC tournament. Not only that, but the Gators were at their best in big games all year. I would argue that their biggest were the two non-conference games against Kansas and Ohio St (the only ones against true competition), and the 3 games in the SEC tournament (the only ones with an SEC title on the line). In those 5 games, they averaged 135.2/82.8 (offense/defense), compared to 120.2/87.5 in all other games. If they play like that during the tournament, a repeat title is all but theirs.
